Summary Appraisal - Novels A summary appraisal of your first-draft completed novel involves a close reading, followed by a four to five page summary of the various elements, (character, plot, voice, tone, etc) to help you ensure that each is working organically in the story, and that no weaker elements are pulling down the work as a whole.
